Runtime: 89 minutes
Magnificent Bastard I will see anything Crispin Glover does. If any actor can be considered to be a genius, than Crispin is a MAD genius.

Bill Dear says that he wrote and directed this film partly in direct response to the "voice" of Hollywood which had pushed him into a "family film" box following his work on sich films as Harry and the Hendersons and Angels in the Outfield. This film definitely reminds you that Bill Dear also wrote and directed Northville Cemetery Massacre. The movie is equally funny and brutal, with some very creative and crowd pleasing kills. I don't want to spoil the suprises, but watch for the "locust-like wave of pick-axes".

Crispin's performance is over-the-top, and by that I mean it exceeds even his usual over-the-top-ness. Every line of dialogue is a performance.

Dear's script also delivers in another interesting way - it strays from most of the typical Slasher movie rules. I could tell you how, but that would ruin all the fun!

Bottom Line - I loved this movie. It's quite difficult to mix comedy and brutality in the same film, but Dear and Glover manage to pull it off. It ain't high art, but it's damn fun.
