Blood Tea and Red String
An amazing testament to the dedication and vision of an artist
Starring: Animated
Rating: 8/10
Directed By: Christiane Cegavske
Runtime: 70 minutes
Magnificent Bastard I have absolutely no idea how I feel about this movie. Primarily because (and this doesn't happen often) I feel unqualified to have an opinion.

Some backstory helps here. This work of art is the product of 13 years of labor by a single woman - she wrote, produced, animated (by hand), directed, and built every set and character. That much love and effort deserves respect, and almost raises the work beyond criticism.

The story itself? Virtually indescribable. It was beautiful, and disturbing in a way I couldn't identify. The film is totally devoid of dialogue, except for occasional squawks from the furry, beaked creatures I think were the protagonists. There are also some foppishly dressed albino mice who drink blood tea, a stuffed doll that holds signifigance for both, and a large toad who is magical.

You may like it, you may not like it, but this film deserves to be seen. It is truely a work of art.
