In spite of what my buddy Matt kept saying, this was neither anime nor was it "That poop film" . . . ok, maybe it was "that poop film", but is that really a bad thing?A glorious 2-D animated romp, Aaachi and Ssipak is set in a future where all energy sources have been depleted, except of course for human feces. Since feces are the sole means of power, the government (run by a freaky little girl), is going to control production. How do you control production of human excrement? By implanting id chips in everyones anus to monitor their "output".
Good producers are rewarded with highly addictive "juicy bars" (blue popsicles) . . . which in some poor unfortunates also leads to mutation. The mutants have joined forces as The Diaper Gang and are always looking to steal juicy bars, as are our heroes, a pair of loveable losers engaged in stealing and selling juicy bars on the black market. Enter a porn star with a magical anus capable of getting hundreds of juicy bars with every "evacuation", a cyborg supercop, and toms of animated violence and you have the groundwork for . . . something bizarre.
That doesn't begin to to sum up this weird ride of comedy, action, and strangeness. Blows away any animated film I've seen from American studios in years. It's also jam-packed with film references - everything from Indiana Jones & The Temple of Doom to Battleship Potemkin! I'm going to have to buy a copy of this and watch it 10 times just to catch everything. And all I want for Christmas is one of the Diaper Gang's skating cow motorcycles! You've gotta see it . . .
